I really like the whole concept of this, the fact that the two arms probably belong to the same subject but because of the falling angles they give the appearance of two people - for me this is achieved through the subtle difference in shadowing: the top one with a darker resolution, the bottom one lighter. I don't know if it was coincidence or intentional, but for me it's what injected a kind of "tension" into photograph. Opposing forces.

I also really like the 'character' that is given (again, whether it was coincidence or intentional, it is still very powerful) -- each hand, because of the orientation of the fingers, is taking on a life of it's own. The bottom one a kind of passive curiousity, the top a more willful intent (as if it means to save someone, pull the up from the depths of something).

As a result you get another set of opposing themes - an almost male/female, anima/animus thing going on.

Technically speaking there is also a great sense of balance and the eye moves necessarily to where it needs to be, the focus being on the fingers and the details of the bones in the back of the hand. An excellent choice for a background as well - simple, unadorned, supporting the foreground beautifully.

Overall, I love it!

Ooooo, I really love this pic. The lighting looks perfect to me. It could have been called something like "the first toutch"....
Really beautiful.
